Ray's Indoor MTB park once again hosted well over 300 women for 2 fantastic weekends of coaching, riding and celebrating at the Cleveland (February) and Milwaukee March) weekends. As a typical result of packing a bunch of people together and depriving them of sleep due to inordinate physical activity and partying, many of us came home sick and I'm still trying to get over my MKE infection, but it was worth it!
I had a few personal gains with my goals to turn on walls and always jump better, and was moreso rewarded by helping many women to reach their goals. At both events, I ran beginners through basic drills and bike handing techniqes in the morning. For the afternoons, I got to work in the rythm room along with Tammy Donahugh in Cleveland and I helped newcomers to tackle the fear inspiring pump track in Milwaukee. The pump track session in particular meant a lot to me, as one woman reached tears due to her fear and frustration but then rallied the mental strength to follow me through and she stuck to those wall rides and did it! Nothing like like tackling your fears.
Ray's mtb will forever be one of my tops picks for "Favorite trails to ride"! Thanks for hosting Women's weekend!
